From 16th to 20th June 2025 the Language Learning Centre held an international JETPRO (Joint English Teaching Profficiency Workshop) course at the University Club in Brno. This course was designed and organized by the Military Erasmus (EMILYO) Implementation Group (IG) initiative, specifically the Line of Development 18: Language Education and Training, coordinated by Colonel Vladan Holcner, Director of the Language Education Centre.

This course is standardised across European military schools and accepted as a common module for teachers travelling to lecture in English. The aim of the course was to improve communication skills in English and to increase motivation and confidence in using English in an academic setting, primarily to motivate participants to conduct teaching in English. In addition to 5 academics from the Czech University of Defence, the course was attended by 10 foreign participants from 5 military universities from 5 different European countries
On the first day, the participants were introduced to the course programme and an analysis of needs and expectations was conducted. They all agreed (as in the pilot run of the course in Sibiu 2024, Romania) that they lacked confidence and the necessary phrases when presenting in a foreign language and advised each other on how to solve problems, how to improve their English level and what tools to use. They focused on the goals of teaching, the needs of the generation they teach, and the skills and abilities expected of them. During the second day they had the opportunity to practice phrases useful for presenting in English and to try different tools to make the lesson interesting and interactive. The main task was to create and present a presentation that fulfilled all of the above. The course included a trip to Lednice, which was a great experience especially for the foreign participants.
All participants evaluated the course very positively and as beneficial for their profession and career.
