On October 14 and 15, the Language Centre of the University of Defence organized, in cooperation with the Polish Military Technical Academy, the Romanian Military Technical Academy, the Bulgarian Military Aviation Academy, and the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists, the 5th annual international scientific conference Language-Security-Technology at the university club.
The conference was conceived as a forum for expanding knowledge in the field of language education in the armed forces in the context of today’s dynamic security and technological environment. At the same time, it served as a platform for developing professional relationships, establishing contacts, sharing best practices, and exchanging experience.

The conference was attended by 73 experts – academics from military and civilian universities, representing not only the field of foreign language teaching. Other participants included an international group of 12 military students. In total, the conference brought together 85 people from 16 institutions and 9 countries.
The conference program included 46 presentations, which were presented either in a plenary session or in one of four specialized sections focusing on the following areas:
• artificial intelligence and language education,
• strategies and motivation in foreign language acquisition,
• acquisition of a second foreign language and specialized terminology,
• communication and the current security environment.
The students had a separate section within the conference, which was an integral part of the entire international week they spent at the Language Centre. In addition to participating in the conference, the international group of students learned about the language education system in the Czech Ministry of Defence and underwent individual language diagnostics with feedback.
The accompanying program of the conference included an informal evening with the Ondráš Military Art Ensemble and a tour of the historic Water Tanks under Žlutý kopec.
The conference made a significant contribution to strengthening cooperation and research activities at the Language Cenre. The next Language-Security-Technology conference will take place in 2026 in Bucharest, Romania.
